Regarding Facebook

In trying to get back into the swing of things on here, I felt compelled to rant about facebook, which actually is a relevant topic surrounding my hiatus. I will cut it to spare you the details if you are not interested.
What happened while I was away and how it brought me back.Collapse )

Incidentally, anyone have any good recs for completed SSHG romances from the last couple of years? I have read a couple, but I am sure there are some good ones I have missed.

Remember me?

Wow, I can't believe it has been so long since I posted on this thing! I feel so badly that people have been contacting and friending me, and I have been ignoring it! I am glad to see that many of you are still around and posting, so hopefully I can get back in the swing of things and get up to date on all that has been happening since I went on my fanfiction hiatus.

I have had absolutely no motivation to write anything for quite some time. Life has been hectic and I have been something of a boring hermit as a result. I am trying to work on something now, so we'll see where that goes. I have also been catching up on all of the wonderful fanfiction that has been written on our 'ship over the last year or so, and I am inspired that so much good work is still being done.

So how are you all? What's exciting in your lives?

moonrevel who?

I'm here! I'm alive! I know, I've been very very bad about posting and commenting, but RL has been crazy. In addition to my full-time job, I am also now teaching intro to sociology one night a week at my university, so, as you can imagine, I've been busy!

This has not kept me from signing up for the exchange, of course. I got my prompts, and I am utterly thrilled about them! I have some plot bunnies running around already, so hopefully the writing shall begin soon. First I have to decide what direction to go with the story. I don't think I'm giving anything away by saying that the initial decision to be made is: comedy or drama? Headlines was really my first attempt at something funny, and I think that went alright, but as you all know I also have a penchant for angst. Hmm. Hopefully the muse will direct me in due course.

Anyway, I hope you are all well and enjoying life. I promise to try to be a more dutiful poster!

Let the fic begin.

Though I have a few pages of it written, I am setting the Squandered Heart sequel aside for the moment to write post-DH fic. anogete was kind enough to listen to some of my complaining about it, and has thus given me a proverbial kick in the pants to keep going. I continue in my ambitions to come up with titles that do not start with "the." Suggestions for titles that include references to Johnny Cash would be appreciated (bet you never thought you'd hear me ask for that, did you?).

On a related note, I watched The Godfather trilogy all weekend because they kept showing it on TV, and though I have all three movies on DVD, it was pleasant to turn it on without having to get off my arse to put the DVD in the player. And watching the same move twice in one weekend when it's on TV seems less patheric. Anyway. I had a ridiculous idea for a crackfic featuring Voldemort as the Godfather, making Severus an offer he couldn't refuse. I'll never write it, but it gave me a good laugh.

Random thought while watching fanvids....

So, here's an informal poll for you (informal because I have a free account and can't do a proper poll):

Which of the wigs that Alan wears in the Harry Potter movies do you like the best? Not for canon compliance, obviously, but for sheer Alan-in-a-wig hotness.

See you on the flip side.

After I post this, I will be going on internet blackout until I have sufficiently read and digested DH. I'm this strange combination of uncontrollably excited and terrified, but mostly I just can't wait to get my grubby little hands on the thing. I hope that you all enjoy, and I look forward to your thoughts when you're done with the reading!

Just so you know, from now until it seems sufficiently safe, any comments I have on the book will be under a cut.

Well, I'm really doing it.

I've started writing the much fabled sequel to "The Squandered Heart." I don't have much done yet, but I'm mapping it out in my head, and I think I've come up with a way to make one of the main elements, which I previously thought was maybe ridiculous, somewhat plausible. It's going well, unfortunately I can't think of a title for the damned thing. I guess that's okay, though, since I didn't think of the original title until I was nearly done. Anyway, I'm committed to writing it no matter what happens in Book 7.

And no, I haven't the scans of the book, but yes, I have seen a few things people have said about them. And yes, I have already thought of ways to keep writing if what I've heard is true. Five scenarios, in fact, and I haven't even really been trying! We'll be fine. I have full confidence.

You don't say!

I've taken about five of these, and amazingly I always get the same result. Imagine that. Muahahaha.

The sorting hat says that I belong in Slytherin!

Said Slytherin, "We'll teach just those whose ancestry is purest."

Slytherin students are typically cunning and hungry for power. Important members include Draco Malfoy (Harry's nemesis), Professor Severus Snape (head of Slytherin), and Lord Voldemort.

Best thing I've ever seen.

Why are you reading spoilers and worrying about Deathly Hallows? You should be watching this, the best HGSS fanvid ever. And this is coming from someone who thought nothing could replace the "Don't Stand So Close to Me" vid...

So, with a week to go before judgment day, it's really sort of sunk in for me that DH is coming, and soon all the theories we've spun in fanfiction will be settled once and for all. As such, there have been more alleged spoilers about the book running around than one could even imagine. I've no doubt that many of them are absolutely ridiculous, but some are very likely true. You don't have a book with this much hype (and not to mention so many copies) without any number of unscrupulous individuals dying to be the one who breaks it down first.

I've seen a few that I believe may be true, because I am not completely averse to spoilers in general. My pleasure comes from sitting down and reading the book because I love reading, and if I get some hints of things, even the ending, in advance, it isn't going to kill me. Now, that said, I will be staying offline starting Friday evening and not returning until after I have finished the book and had some time to digest it, just because I know that people in our region of the fandom are going to start having ideas about a post-DH fanfic world, and I want to form my own first. Rest assured that I will NOT post any of the spoilers I have read here or in comments, and after I read the book, any details about it will be behind a cut with ample warning. I do have some things to say, however, about the impact the book will have by virtue of it being the last book, so you can safely read the below regardless of your feelings on spoilers.

Not cut for spoilers, just for length, so have no fear...Collapse )
